What platforms does Talanoa support?

Talanoa is available as a native desktop app for macOS (Apple Silicon and Intel), Windows 10+, and Linux (Debian/Ubuntu .deb and Fedora/RHEL .rpm). The mobile app for iOS and Android is currently in beta — it's not on the App Store or Google Play yet, but you can request an invite from the desktop app.

Is there a Talanoa mobile app?

Yes — the iOS and Android app shipped in v0.10.0 and is in beta for the moment. It brings the people-first inbox to your phone: senders grouped into Teammates, People, Notifications and your custom sections, multi-account with a unified inbox, full-text search, compose, snooze, folders, and light & dark themes. Like the desktop app, it's local-first: your mailbox lives in a database on your phone and syncs directly with Gmail, Outlook or your IMAP server — there is no Talanoa server in between. To join the beta, open the desktop app and go to Settings → Devices → "I want to be a beta tester". Being in beta, expect some rough edges: background sync is scheduled by the OS (about every 15 minutes), and the Kanban board and calendar availability picker aren't on mobile yet.

Which email providers are supported?

Talanoa supports Gmail, Microsoft Outlook/Hotmail, Yahoo Mail, and iCloud Mail natively. It also works with any standard IMAP/SMTP-compatible provider, so you can connect your own custom or self-hosted email server.

Can I manage multiple email accounts with Talanoa?

Yes. Talanoa supports multiple email accounts in a single inbox. You can connect Gmail, Outlook, Yahoo, iCloud, and any IMAP account simultaneously and switch between them seamlessly. Multi-account is available on the Power Mode (paid) plan.

Is Talanoa free? Do I need a credit card to sign up?

Yes, Talanoa has a free Focus Mode plan — no credit card required. It includes one email account, the people-first inbox view, 2 blocks/unsubscribes per month, and up to 5 Kanban tasks. The paid Power Mode plan ($6/month billed annually, or $249 once for lifetime access) unlocks unlimited accounts, unlimited blocks, unlimited tasks, the mobile app for iOS & Android, and priority support.

Does Talanoa have access to my emails or login tokens?

No. Talanoa is a fully local desktop app — your emails and OAuth tokens are stored only on your device and never transmitted to Talanoa's servers. We do not have access to your data. The app is also CASA Tier 2 certified, which independently verifies this security posture.

Is it compatible with custom SMTP/IMAP accounts?

Yes. Talanoa supports any standard IMAP/SMTP server. You can connect your own domain email, self-hosted mail server, or any email provider that supports open protocols.
