Sorry about this one. 1.1 rebuilt everything behind your inbox and brought a lot of good things, but a few bugs slipped through the net, despite the hours I spent testing it. Thanks to everyone who reported them so quickly: this release fixes them, with a few small improvements along the way.
🐛 Fixes & polish
- [Gmail] Attachments download again. Downloading an attachment of a few MB from Gmail could stop halfway without a word. It goes through now, the download shows its spinner, and a failure tells you so.
- [IMAP] Deleting works on a fresh iCloud mailbox. A new iCloud account has no trash or junk folder until an Apple device creates one, so a deleted email came back right after the undo toast. Talanoa now creates the folder on the first move.
- [IMAP] Folders made elsewhere show up. A folder created in iCloud’s webmail (or any other app) after you added the account stayed invisible, with its mail. Talanoa now picks up new and removed folders while it runs, and brings their mail in.
- [IMAP] No more ghost emails in the trash. Some emails could stay in Talanoa’s trash even though the server’s trash was empty. Talanoa now checks where they really are and cleans them up on its own.
- Spam stays out of Archive. The archive view could list emails that were in spam. They stay in spam now.
- Notifications lists every notification. A notification in a conversation that also had a newer message from a person was counted on the Notifications row but missing from the list it opens. It shows now.
- Undo brings an archived email back to Smart Inbox. After archiving from a row’s check mark,
Cmd+Z (Ctrl+Z on Windows and Linux) moved the email back to the inbox but kept it read, so it stayed hidden in Smart Inbox. It comes back unread now.
- Search in Japanese, Chinese and Korean. Search waited for three letters, and a word inside a sentence was never found, since these languages don’t put spaces between words. It now finds a name or a word from its first character (安藤, 会議, 林), and with Ask AI set up, a word in the middle of an email too, like 会議 in 来週の会議について. Thanks to the user who reported this one.
- Arrow keys stay in menus. In a dropdown or right-click menu, the down arrow opened the next conversation and closed the menu. The arrows now move inside the menu, and typing a letter there no longer fires a shortcut.
- Search your labels. The Add label menus now open with a Search labels field. Type a few letters to narrow the list,
Enter adds or removes the first match, and the down arrow takes you into the list.
- The unified inbox stays open. If you were on the unified inbox, Talanoa opens it again after a reload or a relaunch, instead of going back to one account.
- Block sender is readable in dark mode. The Block sender window stayed white in dark mode, with white text on it. It is dark now.
