How to connect your Outlook account
Add your Outlook, Hotmail or Microsoft 365 email to Talanoa in about 2 minutes. Microsoft does the hard part.

Microsoft does the hard part 🙌
Got an email that ends in @outlook.com, @hotmail.com or @live.com? Or a work email that runs on Microsoft 365? This guide is for you.
You won’t type any password in Talanoa. Talanoa sends you to Microsoft, Microsoft checks it’s really you, and then it sends you back. Like showing your ticket at the door.
Step 1: Click the Microsoft button
If this is your first time opening Talanoa: click Continue with Microsoft.
If you already have an account in Talanoa: click the + at the bottom of your accounts list, on the left side of the window, then click Sign in with Microsoft.
Your web browser opens a Microsoft page.
Step 2: Say yes to Microsoft
- Type your email address and your password. (This is on Microsoft’s page, not in Talanoa.)
- Microsoft shows what Talanoa would like to do, like reading and sending your emails.
- Click Accept.
Using a work email? Some companies don’t let you add new apps on your own. If Microsoft says you need an admin’s approval, ask your IT team. They’ll know what to do (it’s literally their job).
Step 3: Go back to Talanoa
Microsoft sends you back to Talanoa. If your browser asks “Open Talanoa?”, click Open.
And… that’s it! 🎉 Your emails start showing up. If your mailbox is big, the first time can take a few minutes. Just enough time to water a plant. 🪴
Something went wrong?
“Microsoft says I need admin approval.” That’s a work account rule. Ask your IT team to approve Talanoa.
“Nothing happened after I clicked Accept.” Go back to Talanoa and click the Microsoft button again. Sometimes the browser needs a second try.
“I already have one account and Talanoa asks me to upgrade.” The free version of Talanoa lets you use one account. To add more, you need Talanoa Pro.
