Verification codes, delivered to you
When a website emails you a sign-in code, Talanoa shows it at the top of the window. One click to copy, and you're in.
- Time needed
- Less than 1 minute
- What you need
- Talanoa, and a website that sends you a code by email
No more hunting for the code 🔑
You know the dance. A website says “We sent you a code by email.” You open your email app, wait, scroll, find the email, squint at six numbers, try to remember them, switch back, type… and get one wrong.
Talanoa skips the dance. When an email with a verification code (or a sign-in link) arrives, a little banner pops up at the top of the window with the code, ready to copy.
Step 1: Ask the website for a code
Do what you normally do: sign in somewhere, and let the website send you a code by email. Keep Talanoa open.
Step 2: Copy the code from the banner
A few seconds later, a banner appears at the top of Talanoa, like Code from Airtable.
- Click Copy (or click the code itself).
- The button turns into Copied.
- Paste the code on the website.

If it’s a sign-in link instead of a code: click Open link. The page opens in your browser and you’re signed in. The small copy button next to it copies the link instead.
And… that’s it! 🎉 Six numbers, zero squinting.
The two little buttons
On the right of the banner:
- Open email (the envelope) opens the full email, if you want to read it.
- Dismiss (the ✕) closes the banner.
You don’t have to close it yourself. Once you copy the code, it leaves on its own a few seconds later. If you ignore it, it goes away after a few minutes, since codes expire quickly anyway.
Turn it on or off
It’s on by default. To change it:
- Click the gear at the bottom left of the window, then Settings.
- Click Notifications.
- Under Verification codes, use the switch next to Show one-time codes and sign-in links.
Good to know
- It happens on your computer. Talanoa finds the code itself, on your device. See Where your emails live.
- Only fresh codes show up. An old code email from yesterday won’t pop up. Only codes that just arrived do.
- With AI turned on, the AI can help read codes written in an unusual way. With the private AI on your computer, nothing leaves your device. (If you plugged in your own AI app instead, the email is anonymized before it’s sent to it.) If a code was found this way, a small sparkle ✨ appears in the banner: take a quick look at the email if it seems wrong. See Private AI that stays on your computer.
Something went wrong?
“The code email arrived, but no banner showed up.” Check the switch in Settings → Notifications → Verification codes. Also, some emails write the code in a way Talanoa can’t recognize (inside a picture, for example). In that case, just open the email as usual.
“The banner showed the wrong code.” That’s rare, but it can happen. Click Open email to see the real one, and tell us which website sent it so we can do better.
“It says nothing was copied.” Click Copy again. If it keeps failing, select the code in the email and copy it the old-fashioned way.
