Free vs Pro: what's the difference?

Free is really free 🎁

Talanoa has two plans: Free and Pro.

The free plan is not a “try it for a week, then pay” trick. It’s a complete email app that you can use forever, with no credit card. Think of it like a bike: it already takes you everywhere. Pro is the bike with a basket, a bell and a little motor.

What you get for free

  • One email account, with the full people-first inbox.
  • 2 blocks & unsubscribes per month. Enough to kick out the noisiest newsletters.
  • 1 custom section of your own.
  • Your Todo board, with its standard columns.
  • Search, snooze, labels, rules, templates, signatures, notes, dark mode and keyboard shortcuts.
  • The last 3 months of email history for each account.

What Pro adds

  • Unlimited email accounts, and the unified inbox to see them all together. See Use several accounts & the unified inbox.
  • Unlimited blocks & unsubscribes. Block as many as you like. We won’t judge.
  • Unlimited custom sections. See Create your own sections.

How do I know when something is Pro?

Easy: when you touch a Pro feature on the free plan, Talanoa opens a little window called Unlock Pro. It tells you what Pro brings and lets you upgrade right there. Nothing happens unless you click Upgrade now.

You’ll also see small Pro badges next to some settings.

New here? You may have a free Pro trial. New accounts can get 14 days of Pro, with everything unlocked and no card to enter. A small ring at the bottom left of the window counts down the days. When the trial ends, you simply move to the free plan, unless you pick Pro. Nothing is charged without your say.

Questions you might have

“What happens to my extra accounts if I stop Pro?” They stay in Talanoa, but greyed out. The free plan keeps your main account active. Clicking a greyed-out account offers to bring Pro back.

“Does Pro read my emails or put them in the cloud?” No. Free or Pro, your emails stay on your computer. Pro just unlocks more features.

“How do I upgrade?” See Manage your subscription. It takes about a minute.
